Episode 3: "Help"
This is the third of seven stories in Ripples.
On the side of a lonely Texas highway, a young man faces a life-or-death decision that is not as black-and-white as it seems.
"Nearby, a lone red light swept silently in unceasing circles from the dashboard of the police cruiser. James’s car threw its headlights a few yards ahead into the darkness. Other than that, the roadway had no other source of illumination. There were no cars traveling back and forth, no sherbet glow of streetlights, no bright full moon in the hot summer sky. But for the whites of their eyes, both men were practically invisible. It was this cloaking blackness that precipitated the decision that would have otherwise been unthinkable."
